Ouessant island sheep offer very warm wool with a high water absorption capacity and fast drying time. Their very light wool is remarkably low in kemp (the coarse, short hairs responsible for itching). Thus, like all local wools, its feel is dry, but there's no problem with itchy sweaters. In Finistère, the selected fleeces come from farms that are attentive to animal welfare and the environment, some organic, and occasionally from private individuals.
