How do I add to an existing order?
Have you just placed an order and realized you're missing an item?
Don't panic, we'll explain how to place an additional order here.
You just need to:
- add the missing items to your cart
- go to the Cart page
- in the "Special instructions for seller" section, write: the previous order number, as well as your first and last name
- click on "Proceed to checkout" and select the "In-store pickup" option to avoid paying shipping costs twice
And that's it! Your two orders will be shipped in a single package, as long as your first order has not yet been processed.
Please note, if you have already received an email confirming the shipment of the order, then this is no longer possible and we will ask you to pay the shipping costs again.
How to knit an English pattern?
Knitting a pattern in English is no harder than knitting in French. You just need to take the time to understand the terminologies and abbreviations specific to English patterns.
We have written a French-English knitting glossary that you can find here.
How to make my sample a success?
To begin, you can look at what the pattern recommends in terms of yarn and needles.
It is recommended to choose a yarn with a similar yardage to the recommended balls in the pattern, with an identical gauge (or very close) to what is requested, and of a similar fiber so that it reacts in the same way when knitted.
Even when these 3 criteria are met, it is possible that your gauge is different from what is requested!
We have some tips to help you get the best possible gauge:
1. Make a larger swatch than requested: if the pattern recommends a gauge of 22 stitches by 20 rows, you should cast on a higher number of stitches (for example, 30 or 40 stitches). The goal here is to create a larger piece of fabric and measure on the resulting fabric how many stitches fit into a 10 x 10 cm square. We tend to stretch our swatch to fit 10 cm when it's too small.
2. Add borders to stabilize the swatch: still with the goal of having a stable swatch to measure it correctly, it is advisable to cast on 3 extra stitches on each side and start with a few rows of garter stitch to create a non-rolling border. The edges of a stockinette swatch tend to roll, thus distorting the swatch if it is too small.
3. Knit the swatch in the stitch used in the pattern: if your pattern contains lace, cables, or special stitches, it is recommended to knit a swatch with the special stitches to see how the swatch reacts to blocking and to what extent it stretches or not. The fabric created by stockinette stitch does not react in the same way to blocking as a textured stitch, lace, or jacquard.
4. Always block your swatch (yes, yes, it's essential!): the stitch texture, yarn softness, and swatch size will vary during blocking. It is therefore imperative to block your swatch to accurately determine the behavior of the created fabric.
