Wooden Yarn Swift - Lykke

Umbrella swifts clamp to the edge of a table and hold hanks of yarn taut while winding them into a cake or ball. Lykke swifts are handcrafted in India from sustainably sourced wood (mango or rosewood). New: the screws have been replaced with metal screws for better durability.

Mango growers plant trees every 7 to 15 years, after which the mango trees stop producing fruit. They are then cut down to use their wood. Rosewood (or sheesham in Indian), on the other hand, is fast-growing. It gets its name from the fragrance it emits when one of its branches is first cut. It turns brown over time.
