Knitting Weekend in Cathar Country

Friday, June 12 – Sunday, June 14, 2026, Puivert.

Catherine, my mother, and I have always wanted to offer opportunities for sharing and learning around our passions. This is finally happening, and we are delighted to welcome you to a magnificent setting of nature and tranquility. During their stays in France, my parents fell in love with the village of Puivert and its lake, and it is here that we invite you to join us for a weekend of rest, creativity, and friendship. Timeless stays, with delicious homemade food and thematic workshops to pass on our knowledge of knitting or other textile subjects. The Quercorb, the region where Puivert is located, offers numerous walks, historical nooks, and is strategically situated between the Aude and Ariège, which will allow us, for example, to discover the Textile Museum of Lavelanet, a historic town in France's textile heritage.

The stay in Puivert will take place from Friday, June 12 to Sunday, June 14, 2025.

Weekend program:

Friday

• Meet in Puivert (11230) from 4 pm.
• Welcome snack and introductions.
• Short walk in Puivert and around the lake.
• Return home for some relaxation and knitting.
• Around 7 pm, aperitif dinner with local products. Welcome gifts will be given out.
• Knit night with savory and sweet snacks.

Saturday

• Breakfast from 8 am to 9:30 am.
• 10 am - 12 pm Workshop. You can choose between Introduction to the knitting machine or Project support.
• Lunch at the house or by the lake.
• Afternoon visit to the Lavelanet Textile Museum.
• Return around 6 pm, free time.
• 8 pm: dinner at Le Local restaurant in Puivert.
• Knit night

Sunday

• 8 am – 9:30 am Breakfast.
• Quiet time: walks, knitting, rest, Puivert castle or visit to the Quercorb Museum right next to the house.
• Departure: 12 pm.

Meals will be primarily vegetarian. We can accommodate your diets or allergies; please let us know as soon as your registration is confirmed.

There will be unlimited snacks and drinks (cold and hot) throughout the stay.

The schedule may be subject to change depending on the weather.

The price

The retreat price includes:

• Accommodation in a double or single room according to your choice made during payment for the retreat.
• Continuous snacks and drinks.
• 2 hours of workshop on Saturday morning.
• Transportation for Saturday's visit and the visit fee.
• Welcome gift.
• Friday meals: snack, aperitif dinner, Knit night snacks.
• Saturday meals: breakfast, lunch, aperitif, dinner at the restaurant (starter, main course, dessert and one drink), Knit night snacks.
• Sunday meals: breakfast and snacks.

The price does not include: your transportation to Puivert, any other consumption outside of what is planned at the restaurant. Other expenses not included in the list above.

Accommodation

You will be accommodated in the main house and in a gîte located on the same street as the house, a 2-minute walk from the lake and in the heart of the village. We have: 2 "twin" rooms (each with two single beds) and an individual bathroom. Four single rooms sharing the same bathroom. Bed linen and bath towels are included.

Breakfasts are served between 8:00 am and 9:30 am.

The weekend will take place in the living areas of the main house. A large comfortable living room will welcome us for our meals, workshops, and knitting evenings. The large kitchen will allow us to have breakfast and snacks, and if the weather permits, you can also enjoy the garden! Mati, the little house cat, will be there discreetly to receive any cuddles :)

Workshops

Introduction to the knitting machine - Ana, passionate about machine knitting for two years, wants you to discover this world. The goal of this workshop is to have a first contact with these machines, to make you understand their basic functioning and their usefulness, as well as their differences. In an approach complementary to hand knitting, you can ask your questions and knit your first swatches. We will work with the Silver reed LK150 model.

Project Support - Catherine offers what she does best: supporting you in your projects. Come with your questions, unfinished projects, or desires for modifications and/or embroidery, she will be there to guide you. This is an opportunity for you to demystify certain techniques, improve those you have already tackled, or embark on projects you don't dare to undertake alone. The goal is to give you the tools (and confidence!) necessary to be autonomous after the workshop. Knitting, crochet, and embroidery compatible!

You will be a small group, so these are small-group courses to provide personalized support. When you register, you can choose the workshop you wish to attend.

Lanae knitting shop

Yes! Ana will offer a small Lanae knitting shop in Puivert. Exclusive arrivals, needles and accessories, some books and European yarns. You can also tell us if there are specific products you would like to find there. Additionally, if you wish to place an order on our site and pick it up during the retreat, that is entirely possible.

How to get to Puivert?

Several options:

• By car and carpooling. We can put you in touch if there are people from the same area of France.
• By train to Perpignan then LIO bus to Quillan. From Quillan to Puivert you can take a taxi or share one if there are several of you.
• By plane to Toulouse (then car rental).

Cancellation conditions

1. If you cancel up to 30 days before the retreat: full refund.
2. If you cancel between 29 days and 8 days before the retreat: 50% refund of the amount*.
3. If you cancel within 7 days before the retreat: no refund possible*.

* unless you find someone or we find someone to take your place. In this case, the full amount will be refunded.
