Knitting Retreat in Cathar Country

Tuesday, July 7 - Thursday, July 9, 2026, Puivert.

Retreat Program:

• Tuesday

-Arrival in Puivert from 4 p.m.

-Welcome snack.

-Walk to discover Puivert and the lake.

-Relaxation time to share and knit.

-8 p.m. Dinner at Le Local restaurant in Puivert.

-Knitting/evening with savory and sweet snacks.

• Wednesday

-Breakfast from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.

-10 a.m.-12 p.m. Workshops. You can choose between the Project Bag workshop or the Knitting/Crochet Support workshop.

-Afternoon visit to the Lavelanet Textile Museum.

-Return to Puivert around 6 p.m. for a relaxing evening, walks, knitting...

-8 p.m. Dinner at Le Local restaurant in Puivert.

-Knitting/evening with savory and sweet snacks.

• Thursday

-Breakfast from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.

-Free time: rest, knit, walk, visit Puivert Castle or visit the Quercorb Museum...

-Retreat ends at 12 p.m.

The retreat includes:

• Accommodation in a single or shared room depending on your selection.
• Snacks, hot and cold drinks for all three days.
• 2 hours of workshop.
• Transportation for the visit and museum entrance fee.
• Welcome gift.
• Meals on Tuesday: snack, dinner at the restaurant (starter, main course, dessert and a drink) and knitting evening snacks.
• Meals on Wednesday: breakfast, lunch, snack, dinner and knitting evening snacks.
• Meals on Thursday: breakfast and mid-morning snack.

The retreat does not include:

• Transportation to Puivert.
• Travel or health insurance.
• At the restaurant: any other drinks or consumption apart from what has been agreed upon are at your own expense.
• Any expense not included in the previous section.

Accommodation and common areas

You will be accommodated in the main house and a cottage, both located on the same street, about a 5-minute walk from the lake and in the heart of the village. We have: 2 double rooms, each with an individual bathroom. Four single rooms, which share the same bathroom. Bed linen and towels are also included.

Breakfasts are included and will be served between 8:00 a.m. and 9:30 a.m.

Activities and meals will take place in the main house, which has spacious areas to welcome you during workshops, meals and knitting evenings. In addition, weather permitting, we can enjoy the garden and even the lake. Mati, the house cat, will be delighted to welcome you and receive some cuddles :)

Project Bag Making - A surprise project that we will tell you about soon!

SOS Knitting and Crochet - Catherine offers you a personalized help workshop. You can take advantage of this to bring those projects you don't dare to start alone, those techniques that resist you, or those garments that need some finishing or mending. You can share tips and we will guide you in the necessary techniques so that you no longer resist that technique that was paralyzing you. You can ask her about knitting, crochet or wool embroidery. For this workshop you will need to bring what is necessary to carry out the technique or pattern you want to learn. For example, if you want to learn how to make a short row heel, you need to bring a sock or a tube started so you can knit the heel directly, or if you want to mend your favorite pair of socks, you will need to bring them, as well as the yarn you want to mend with and a darning needle :)

There are few people during the retreat so the workshops are very small and personalized. As soon as you validate your registration for the retreat, you can let us know which workshop you want to participate in.

We will also set up a small shop with French and European yarns, accessories, needles and books. You can tell me in advance what qualities you are interested in and of course you can also place an order on our website to pick it up directly during the weekend.

How to get to Puivert

To get to our small Cathar village there are several options:

• By car towards Carcassonne.
• By train: the most convenient station is Perpignan, as it has a LIO bus that goes to the city of Quillan and from there you can take a taxi with several participants to Puivert.
• By plane to Toulouse or Barcelona and from there by train to Perpignan or car rental to Puivert.

Cancellation conditions

1. If you cancel up to 30 days before the retreat: full refund.
2. If you cancel between 29 and 8 days before the retreat: 50% refund *
3. If you cancel within 7 days before the retreat: no refund *

* unless we find another person who can replace you, in which case we can refund the full amount.
