Manchelopi is an unspun yarn made from Manchega sheep wool, native to La Mancha in Spain. Presented in a 100-gram cake, the yarn comes directly in two strands. The thickness of the wool and the yardage depend on the use: if knitting with a single strand at a time, the thickness corresponds to a fingering/sport weight yarn; if holding the yarn double, the thickness corresponds to a DK/worsted weight yarn. Being unspun makes this yarn very lofty and allows it to be very versatile in terms of gauge: it can correspond to both a DK and a bulky gauge.
- Composition: 100% Manchega wool
- 100-gram cake / 460 meters (single strand) or 230 meters (held double)
- Recommended needles: 4 - 6 mm
- Care: hand wash, lay flat to dry
- Made in Spain
The Wooldreamers project aims to produce 100% natural and Spanish yarns with full local traceability.
Their ambition is to revalue Spanish Merino wool and the farms of the Iberian Peninsula. They are fortunate to be able to wash, spin, and produce everything on-site in their mill located in Mota del Cuervo in Castilla la Mancha, so their product has a fairly low carbon footprint.
For the record, Ramon is the young entrepreneur behind this adventure of revaluing Spanish wool, and with his brother-in-law Oscar, they are bringing this vibrant and interesting project to life. I warmly invite you to discover their beautiful yarns!
