The Ouessant quality from Bouclelaine is the result of a project to enhance the fleeces of sheep raised on Ouessant Island. Made from a blend of several sheep breeds (Ouessant sheep, Finistère sheep, and Arles Merino raised in France), it is available in a variety of colors, allowing for a wide range of harmonious creations. The sheep of Ouessant Island offer very warm wool with a significant water absorption capacity and fast drying time. Their very light wool is remarkably poor in kemp (the coarse, short hairs responsible for itching). Thus, like all local wool, its feel is dry, so there's no problem of an itchy sweater. In Finistère, the selected fleeces come from farms attentive to animal welfare and the environment, some organic, and occasionally from private individuals. As for the Arles Merino, it adds fineness and softness.

For white yarn and all dyes made on a white base: 50% fleeces from sheep raised on Ouessant Island 25% sheep raised in Finistère (some organic) 25% Arles Merino raised in France
For natural colored yarns (except white) as well as over-dyes on a grey mottled base: 50% fleeces from sheep raised on Ouessant Island 50% sheep raised in Finistère (some organic)
